What Is The Warburg Effect And The Warburg Effect In Cancer
What Is The Warburg Effect And The Warburg Effect In Cancer https://www.anoasisofhealing.com/ What is the Warburg Effect? What is the Warburg Effect in cancer? Dr. Goodyear from An Oasis of Healing will walk you through each of these topics, so you have a clear understanding. The Warburg Effect is something that was described by Dr. Otto Warburg back in 1956. It is actually talking about the inappropriate mismatch of the energy cycle in cancer in its environment. You have an environment that favors one type of energy mechanism and it actually uses another. Dr. Warburg called this aerobic glycolysis. What is this? Well, let’s go back to biochemistry. We’re talking about glycolysis, we’re talking about the Krebs cycle, we’re talking about the electron transport chain. What we are talking about is the basic biochemistry of how a cell makes energy. This is the essence of life. Can a cell make energy? If it can, it survives. If it can’t, it dies. The same applies to cancer cells. So, in aerobic glycolysis, or the Warburg Effect, what happens is the environment is oxygen-rich. This should favor glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain. All are used in a very efficient production of energy which would be 38 molecules of ATP which is the energy currency of the cell. However, in cancer, it’s a little bit different. It’s dysfunctional. In part, it’s an adaptation to survive and in the short term, that survival is good but in the long-term, it’s detrimental and promotes things like cancer. In the presence of oxygen, instead of the glycolysis, the Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain we only use glycolysis. The other parts are lost. And with just the use of glycolysis, that’s where we get the aerobic glycolysis pathway. Why is this important? Glycolysis should actually really dominate when oxygen is not in ready supply. However, when it is glycolysis only the result is lactic acid. A buildup in the byproduct outside of the tumor cell creates an acidic environment that so many people talk about which is common in cancer. Aerobic glycolysis, the Warburg Effect by Dr. Otto Warburg, that is what it is. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgEvpazxx5NNch5wWJUh6trzf3Ro96NJj https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR0Y7icMoXgQZaepRkJlHzg/videos #whatisthewarburgeffect #thewarburgeffectincancer #anoasisofhealing
